Senior Project
Frame
Built the frame for the prototype using only 2x4.
Top and Glass
Had custom piece of frosted glass cut to 2' by 3' piece. This was resting on a frame made from glued pieces of 1x6 lumber. The sides were made from 1/2" plywood.
Functional Pieces
Using a projector, mirror, webcam, and infrared filter, I am able to display images on the table, and also read touch input from the table.
Touch Input Test
This shows the initial touch input testing that was done.
Complete Prototype - Internal
This shows the final prototype, which allowed me to continue programing the interactive animation, and test as I go.
Complete Prototype - External
This shows the final prototype, which allowed me to continue programing the interactive animation, and test as I go.
Initial Interaction Testing
This video shows the initial testing done with the reacTIVision framework. This software recognizes specific shapes called "fiducials" and allows you to track X, Y, and Rotation information. The X and Y coordinates in this particular test are off, but it showed me where the dead spots on the table were, allowing me to tweak it and get better overall recognition.
Final Product - "Pat"
This is the final result. Pat, an interactive multitouch table that allows interaction with the character Pat, through a variety of given objects. If you place a boombox over his head, he'll start singing along to the music. If you place food in front of him, he'll start eating. Pictured above is the display that was setup at MAM After Dark in 2012.
